Tuesday & Thursday: Ski with a Naturalist

  • December 13, 2016- March 23, 2017
  • Location: Mt. Werner, Meet at the large trail sign at the top of the Gondola where the “Why Not” trail starts.
  • Time: 1:30 pm start.
  • Lift ticket not included. Free program, No registration required.
  • Sponsored by Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation.


Friday: Uranium Mine Snowshoe Tour

  • December 16, 2016- March 17, 2017
  • Location: Fish Creek Falls Parking lot ($5 parking fee) (Ages 12+)
  • Moderately strenuous tour along breathtaking Fish Creek Canyon hiking up the Uranium Mine trail
  • Time: 10 am – 1 pm
  • FREE, Registration required, call 970.871.9151
  • Sponsored by the US Forest Service


Saturdays: Emerald Mountain

  • December 17, 2016- March 18, 2017
  • Location: Howelsen Hill/Emerald Mountain (Ages 12+)
  • Time: 10 am – 12 pm
  • Cost: $20 includes snowshoes

Moonlight Snowshoe Tour

  • Date: December 13th; January 12th; February 10th; March 12th
  • Times vary call or email for details! (Ages 18+)
  • Location: Emerald Mountain
  • Cost: $20, includes snowshoes

  • A young Naturalist program to stimulate kids’ curiosity while giving parents some
    time to explore on their own.

Our Naturalists are creative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. We will work with you to plan a custom program that will suit your needs best.

About Yampatika

Yampatika’s mission is to inspire environmental stewardship through education. Yampatika is the only non-profit organization in North West Colorado that offers a continuum of environmental education programs to children and adults ranging in age from pre-K to senior citizen in Routt and Moffat Counties. Yampatika recently expanded its service area by opening the Yampa Valley’s first ever Environmental Learning Center at the City-owned Legacy Ranch.
