Get your kids out of the classroom and into the field with Colorado

Division of Wildlife TENS (Teaching Environmental Science Naturally).

 

· Colorado Standards based

`            curriculum is site specific to              Northwest Colorado.

 

· Focus on 2nd through 5th grades.

 

· Activities span topics including

             animals and habitats to

             watersheds.

 

· Students are encourage to use

             scientific methods to explore.

 

A facilitator is provided for each

session so all you have to do is make an appointment, then call and reserve your transportation. Be sure to call early to schedule your program. The CDOW only allocates a certain amount of money each school year.

Please call for more information on available funding. If there is a trip that you would like to do but our funding will not cover it, the cost is $40/hour for all schools. Please be aware that Yampatika works very hard to secure funding for the schools, but year to year this changes.

Fall and Spring
Half day and full day programs
immerse students in nature. Talk to us about sties and activities for your class.
Winter
Don’t let cabin fever set in! Learn about snow ecology and animal adaptations in winter, or let’s go tracking. You provide the students and we’ll provide the snowshoes!

Locations include and are not
 limited to: Yampa River State Park, Steamboat Lake State Park, Carpenter Ranch, Fish Creek Falls and other locations on Routt National Forest.
