New "Grazing Event" Was Big Success!
On June 4th Yampatika held its first new "Grazing Event." at Kim and Don Vogel's Bed and Breakfast (Vogel Haus) on 9th street. Almost all of the work was done by a very dedicated set of volunteers, who did a magnificent job. The food was terrific and the displays that the staff and volunteers set up throughout the house made it a fun event. The money we made will cover our general operating expenses, but it was enough to take two classrooms of students to the Storm Peak Lab next winter. If you missed it this year, be sure to come next year.
A New Director
-
- Yampatika has a new director. Sonja Macys, the former director of the Tucson Audobon Society, began as the new director on April 1, 2008. She will replace Jenn Wright, who is about to take on the job of "mother." We are pleased to have found Sonja and hope that you all get to meet her.

Summer Programs May 10, 2008 -- August 30, 2008
We are gearing up for summer with several new events, including a Summer Solstice program at Canyon Pintado, a geology tour of Steamboat with Newell Campbell, author of "Geology Profiles of the Steamboat Springs Area" and a Hike with a Ranger program on which Wildlife Biologist Robert Skorkowsky will show us how our forests are changing through blowdown, fire, beetles, and logging. We continue to improve upon our children's camps and they are already beginning to fill! Please click on the links above to register yourself or your child for summer programs.
